Background
Stephen O'Brien, Jr. grew up on the southeastern shore of Massachusetts. Fishing and hunting were his family's pastimes, and enjoying the outdoors became second nature to him as a boy.
Perpetually with "mud between his toes," O'Brien spent his formative years digging clams, catching bluefish and striped bass, and lobstering in and around Cape Cod Bay. Winter, spring, summer and fall provided ample opportunity to appreciate the wildlife throughout the region.
Fly-fishing expeditions for striped bass and bluefin tuna continue to draw O’Brien out on the bay today. And his lifelong interests in decoy carving, fishing collectibles, fine art, and antiques, have developed into his profession.
O'Brien launched Copley Fine Art Auctions in 2005 after almost two decades of experience in the antiques trade.
